Sam H. Barbar was born in December 1962, attended International College (IC) high school, and graduated in 1980 earning the Lebanese Baccalaureate II (Experimental Science) certificate. He continued his education at the American University of Beirut (AUB) where he studied two years of pre-medicine specifically in the area of public health (epidemiology & biostatistics). He came to the United States in 1983 where he attended Northeastern University (NU) in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering with a minor in Structural Engineering in 1988. He is currently pursuing his MBA in International Business and Finance at Northeastern University.
Mr. Barbar founded Environmental Consultants International, LLC (ECI) in 2005. He serves as President/CEO and maintains offices in Houston and Lebanon as well as a presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Mr. Barbar is also the co-owner/founder of Environmental Consulting Services, Inc. (ECS), an environmental and geotechnical engineering firm based in Houston, Texas, with a branch office in the New York City area. Mr. Barbar founded and owns Barbar Investment Group, LLC (BIG), a private investment firm in Houston, Texas. He serves as President/CEO of BIG.
In 1997, Mr. Barbar was nominated and selected as the “Entrepreneur Of The Year” by the International Who’s Who Of Entrepreneurs. In 1999, 2001 and 2002, he led ECS to receive the Houston 100 award, recognizing it as one of the fastest growing companies in Houston with an annual total growth of over 600%.
Mr. Barbar founded the International Orphans Foundation (IOF), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping orphans and the elderly in Lebanon and the United States. He has been featured for his work in the Houston Business Journal and 002 Houston magazines among others.
